Ok there has always been this thing with the old movie stars..Lately it has been revamped through Madmen and the whole era of the fifties...especially the wife of Don Draper who is really the best representation of Grace Kelly i have seen on the screen. The style is impeccable, the colours are perfect..she is no Grace but she is pretty close...and everything that Grace had was her name. she was truly Graceful.
So the V&A cleverly decided to pay tribute to this wonderful actress and style icon (who doesn't adore her and her look in Rear Window) and to have a show of her style, clothes, life and habits..although i have always found these shows a bit too personal and trophy-like..i admit i was curious...like everyone..because Grace Kelly is what we all want to become at some point or another.
And yes you'll tell me she was too much of a "straight arrow", politically correct, the whole fantasy of the girl that married the prince etc etc. the word cold, rigid, strict, snobbish could also come to mind..but common lets face it. She is perfection.
She is the woman we all want to be as i said before..at one point or another..there will be a moment where the Hermes foulard wrapped around your head will come to mind, with the big sunglasses and the red lipstick and the sleek blonde hair, wonderfully parted on the side to show your pretty face..
