Natalie Wood

Natalie Wood is one of the actresses i really really love.
She starred with two of my favourite men ever to pass the silver screen, Robert Redford and Steve McQueen. (well Redford i like as a man as well he is my kind of guy (although blonde), McQueen just has great style).

With McQueen she played in "Love with a Proper Stranger" of 1963, which i watched the other night, not a very famous romantic film, but a really good one which is a rare chance to see McQueen in a non macho role. He still is incredibly good at it though. And also i mean their acting is so much better than today's acting.

I loved her style in that movie. White scarfs on her hair, beautiful peacoats, kitten heels, nude tights, pencil skirts. Very stylish and very fashionable at the moment.

With Redford she played at "This Property is Condemned" three years later in 1966. Of course she was more famous for "Rebel without a cause" and "West Side Story". I wont say much about the styling of the film because it wasn't my cup of tea. It was supposed to be a 20s film but the costume designer was just not good enough.
But there is a certain electricity between Wood and Redford, and that is probably since they knew eachother from school in real life.

That was back in the 60s. She had already met her husband actor Robert Wagner (and already divorced him once) who was her disaster...literally, since 21 years after her accidental drowning, her case was recently re-opened, following speculations she was murdered by Wagner.
The classic case of falling in love for the wrong guy...but in this scenario gone horribly wrong.

She was born on the same day as i am...and maybe that is another reason why i like her so much. Her and Dianna Rigg, the absolute Ms Peel from the Avengers, but i ll make another post for her.

Wood had great style, impeccable fashion sense, beautiful eyes and a feline aura to her...and from her biographies apparently she also had brains.
One of my favourite quotes from her is the following which i find hilarious.

The only time a woman really succeeds in changing a man is when he is a baby.
